We were the first American Jewish organization to openly and proudly call for #SovereigntyNOW, and we continue to lead the fight to encourage this historic action. We unveiled an impactful and eye-catching billboard in the heart of Jerusalem, published numerous op-eds, and hosted a variety of conversations with our partners in Israel, on Capitol Hill, and across the United States about the importance of extending sovereignty. While we hoped that the U.S. Administration’s initial backing of this move would have led to a milestone decision in the Knesset on July 1st, the original target date set by Netanyahu to extend Israeli sovereignty, no concrete action has been taken. Intense pressure has been coming from the EU, UN and Arab countries, all while rumors swirl that Netanyahu could be influenced by those linked to possible business deals between Israel and the UAE. External pressures are tough, but the hardest battle remains at home, in our own community, where most other American Jewish groups remain silent. We need you to stand by our side as we continue our efforts to educate the American public, to convince members of Congress to back #SovereigntyNOW, and to offer support to both the American and Israeli governments so they can move forward with this monumental decision.
