John,

As the latest bouts of high-profile police brutality continue to spark protests and conversations around the country, Hank and his colleagues have simultaneously worked to create a better future where people of color no longer have to fear the police.

To that end, the House passed the robust Justice in Policing Act, which included some of Hank’s own legislation. But this was just a start. Hank is now working to expand on criminal justice reform by introducing legislation that would allow death row inmates to present newly discovered evidence of innocence.

This is just another example of Hank’s commitment to racial justice and criminal justice reform. Will you support his work by chipping in $15 so he can keep up the fight?

Tragically, under current law, an inmate on death row can be stranded with no procedural options to stop their execution, even when there is compelling new evidence that he or she is innocent. The current justice system is failing these death row inmates, many of whom have been able to prove their innocence when given the chance.

We need legislators like Hank who perceive these injustices and work to correct them — so that all Americans are given a fair chance. Unfortunately, as America’s divisions widen, hardworking, thoughtful lawmakers like Hank are harder and harder to find. That’s why we’re asking you to step up and contribute to Hank’s re-election campaign. We simply can’t afford to lose his leadership.

Thanks so much for your support, John!
