Dear John, Our tax dollars belong to us. But right now, they’re being used to disrupt everything we hold dear.
This Giving Tuesday, will you support our work to use our tax dollars for a moral budget? |
It’s been a dark year. We’ve seen U.S. troops occupy peaceful U.S. cities. We’ve seen masked and unidentified government agents tear parents away from children. And we’ve seen the administration strip health insurance and food assistance from struggling Americans.
Thanks to your support, National Priorities Project at the Institute for Policy Studies is the only federal budget project devoted to helping people and movements fight back. |
This year, we’ve fought to reclaim our tax dollars to save our country:
Defeat Authoritarianism. Our analyses of the costs of National Guard deployments to U.S. cities – nearly half a billion dollars in just five cities, so far – has been featured in dozens of national, state, and local media outlets, and viewed millions of times on social media. Now, thanks to successful court challenges and public opposition, some of those troops have been sent home.
Restore the Safety Net. From DOGE to the Big Bad Bill to the government shutdown, we have shown at every step how this administration’s decimation of government has furthered their authoritarian power grab. Our analysis of the Big Bad Bill’s power grab powered the speech of dozens of faith leaders, who were arrested at the U.S. Capitol in June while demanding a moral budget.
People Over Pentagon. Protect Immigrants. Violence is this administration’s calling card. Now we are facing the first-ever trillion-dollar war budget during peacetime, and a mass deportation force equivalent in size to the world’s 13th-largest military. Our report with Public Citizen showed how Congress was enabling the violence by shifting money from human needs to the Pentagon and mass deportations - and provided receipts for every state, and every single Congressional district.
We couldn't do this without you. Thank you for always being with us in this fight.
In peace and solidarity, Lindsay & the NPP team |
