[link removed] [[link removed]] John,The New York Times recently published one of the most disturbing stories I’ve read in a long time. It described, in the words of current and former Justice Department lawyers, how deeply the DOJ has deteriorated under this administration.
But it was the parts about elections that stopped me cold.
And perhaps most alarming of all: one DOJ lawyer said openly that the department was misleading states about why they wanted private voter data, knowing it would likely be used for unrelated immigration enforcement.
That lawyer said, bluntly: “It felt like a perversion of the role of the Civil Rights Division.”
As Minnesota’s Secretary of State, I can tell you: this is outrageous, dangerous, and unacceptable.
And it makes the DOJ’s sweeping lawsuit against Minnesota even more alarming because now we know, from the inside, that not even DOJ staff believe the requests are honest.
I need your help to keep standing up against this. Will you chip in $10 or more today to help us defend voter privacy and the rule of law? [[link removed]]

Here’s what DOJ lawyers themselves admitted:
• Senior officials ordered voting-rights attorneys to “vigorously enforce” an executive order that courts later said was unlawful;
• Line attorneys were forced to dismiss cases — including one about voter suppression — without ever being allowed to explain the evidence;
• Staff were told to secretly obtain voter rolls from states, then compare them to immigration and Social Security databases.
I will not unlawfully hand over millions of Minnesotans’ private data to an anonymous “DOGE person” — someone handpicked, unaccountable, and hidden behind bureaucratic fog.
Minnesotans deserve better. Our democracy deserves better. Please join me in pushing back by chipping in $5 or more now. [[link removed]]
