As I write you this email, Washington, D.C. is in another state of confusion.

On the heels of the longest government shutdown in our history, Congress is now facing several more key deadlines before the end of the year . . . deadlines and issues they hope you and I aren’t watching.

Before Congress shuts down for the holidays, they need to pass the National Defense Authorization Act in order to keep our military up and running (and hopefully for the right reasons).

Republicans also promised Democrats a vote on expiring ObamaCare subsidies before the end of the year. These subsidies cost billions each year, and many Republicans have already indicated they are willing to cave on the issue.

Congress also faces another budget deadline since the band aid they just passed only funds the government through January.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump is ordering military strikes against Venezuelan boats, taking us closer to another war.

And in the midst of this confusion, the Spy State enablers are taking advantage and quietly pushing their agenda while a crucial clock is ticking.

Which is why I’m counting on your IMMEDIATE action. Please read this whole email and strike a blow to the Deep State!

You see Patriot, the “crown jewel” of the Washington, D.C. Spy State –- Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) – expires next April unless Congress takes early action.

This is the section of federal code the Deep State was caught red-handed abusing over and over and over . . . MILLIONS of times in the past several years!

Section 702 allows the NSA to collect your emails, browser history, and chat logs and even listen in on your phone calls.

Section 702 also allows other agencies, like the FBI, to search through your data and the data of other innocent Americans.

They are supposed to have a warrant and provide reasonable cause to look at your private data, but time and time again, the “intelligence” community ignores the law or circumvents it through loopholes.

There is always outrage when the Deep State and their tactics are uncovered, and both sides of the aisle call for “reform.”

But I fear GOP leaders are close to cutting a dishonorable deal to reauthorize the Deep State’s “crown jewel.”

U.S. Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR), chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, is twisting arms so he can quietly renew Section 702 of FISA before the mid-term election kicks off.

Cotton is calling for a “clean” 18-month renewal of Section 702 – despite all of the abuses over the years – so senators and representatives won’t have to vote on the issue until after their next election.

And Cotton is actively lobbying the Trump administration to back this move.

Considering Speaker Mike Johnson’s disgraceful betrayal on this very issue last year, chances are he’s only too happy to avoid another showdown on the issue.

I know you agree warrantless surveillance is a power the Swamp never should have been given.

And I’m sure you know it’s a power the Swamp does not want to lose.

While you and I came closer than ever before to winning this critical issue last year, the Swamp has worked every day since then to try to change hearts and minds.

That’s why it’s so important you and I do everything we can to pull out all the stops.

The reality is a clean refresh of FISA Section 702 would show utter disrespect for the American people.

It would be outrageous.

But don’t put it past the Spy State to pull such a stunt.

That’s why you and I need to keep the pressure on our senators and representative, demanding they reject any efforts to RAM renewal of Section 702 into any “must-pass” legislation before the end of the year.

There are two things I need you to do:

First, sign your STOP THE SURVEILLANCE STATE petition to stop Senator Tom Cotton's quiet end-around pushing an eighteen-month “clean” renewal of Section 702.

You and I need to tell Congress, we’ve had it with our own government spying on innocent Americans.

It’s time to put the Constitution first!
