So if you’re still on the fence about donating to CREW, I want to share a bit more about the ongoing lawsuits CREW is bringing against the Trump administration and where they stand. Over the past few months, we’ve been leading some of the most consequential legal fights in the country to hold this administration accountable. For example, when Trump tried to replace experienced civil servants with political loyalists — essentially clearing the way to dismantle essential protections that keep our water clean, our food safe and our environment protected — CREW sued to stop it. When the Office of Management and Budget tried to block the public from seeing how taxpayer money was being spent at Trump’s properties and elsewhere and where the administration was illegally refusing to spend money Congress had allocated for important services, CREW took them to court — and forced the administration to comply with federal transparency laws. In other words, we won. And earlier this year, we secured the first court decision finding that DOGE was likely a federal agency subject to the Freedom of Information Act. We are still fighting in court because the administration refuses to submit to discovery. Delay tactics continue, but we are poised for the fight. Finally, we also have a case that’s moving quickly to defend the rights of millions of Americans — fighting Trump’s attempt to use Social Security data to question the citizenship of naturalized American voters. Recently, we learned that while a district court judge believed the administration had likely violated the law in implementing this massive data pooling system, we had not, at this stage, demonstrated irreparable harm to obtain immediate relief for our clients. Despite this setback, the judge set an expedited briefing schedule so that we could proceed to vindicate our clients’ rights as the litigation moves forward. John, with the continued need for litigation to push back against the administration's egregious behavior, lack of transparency and attacks on our democracy, your support couldn’t make a more significant impact than on this Giving Tuesday.
