Give in every season.

Invest in a Black girl’s future all year long.

Have you read the article in ESSENCE about the attacks on Black philanthropy? It’s a stark reminder that these rising attacks aren’t abstract or distant — they threaten real, grassroots organizations doing essential work.

Increasing federal scrutiny and efforts to demonize civic giving are being used to undermine Black-led nonprofits. While some institutions may weather the storm, smaller, community-rooted groups are at serious risk.

The good news? There's power in community giving.

Our Annual Fund powers the creative exploration, leadership development, college & career readiness, and culturally responsive curriculum designed to close gaps Black girls experience on their path to adulthood. While traditional philanthropy is under pressure, individual philanthropy can move the needle.

This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking you to become a GFAC Sustainer with a recurring monthly gift.

Today, we ask you to stand with GFAC — not just once, but consistently throughout the year. Instead of waiting for the “right time” to give, you can schedule smaller, automated contributions that flow steadily into our programs. That regular support gives us the strength to plan, adapt, and resist, no matter what the political winds bring.

A message from our CEO: Stand strong in community

"If you believe in the future we are building a world where Black girls are seen, heard, and celebrated, now is the moment to take a stand. Become a GFAC Sustainer and help us carry this mission through every challenge, every season, and every girl's journey.

A Sustainer is someone who gives once a month. Any amount makes an impact, even $25 a month. If just a portion of the 5000 people who receive our newsletter committed to a $25 monthly gift, that would generate $125,000 every month.

$125,000 a month would allow us to expand and stabilize the programs our girls depend on and ensure they continue. This level of support covers essential needs such as:

  • Reliable transportation so girls can safely get to and from programs and special opportunities
  • Modern technology and equipment so every girl can learn, create, and compete
  • Dedicated space for leadership labs, storytelling, healing circles, and creativity
  • Nutritious dinner for afterschool programs, ensuring girls can learn and lead without hunger
  • Materials, mentors, and staff support that make these spaces safe, joyful, and life-changing
  • Staff supervision, wellness, and day-to-day care so adults can consistently show up, mentor, guide, and give love to Black girls

This is not charity, it is community care.

It is choosing to invest in joy, opportunity, safety, and possibility.

It is refusing to let the work of supporting Black girls be misunderstood, dismissed, or criminalized.

It is how we stand together, uplift one another, and protect the future our girls deserve.

Your monthly support is a shield during a time when Black girls face attacks on their existence, their health, their education, their families,  their culture and heritage, and even their right to be seen and valued. It lightens the load for our staff, board, partners, and community leaders who are working every day to defend and uplift Black girlhood.

We are the community we build. And we rise by what we choose to sustain."
