Behind the scenes of the growing data center resistance
I got this email in October, after a friend used MJ’s resources to join a local data center fight.
Behind the scenes of the victory? 2,982 petition signatures. A 2,200-member Facebook group of residents from both sides of the aisle. And now, 123 acres of mostly forested land are back in community hands rather than being rezoned for a “data center for no one.”
Communities are taking their digital futures into their own hands, with the support of tools and strategies developed by MediaJustice, like our report and toolkit, The People Say No: Resisting Data Centers in the U.S. South.
As Justin Hendrix reported in Tech Policy Press, MediaJustice offers “an alternative future for your community, one that's different from the one that Silicon Valley wants to sell you.”
Please join us in rejecting the future imposed on us by the tech oligarchs and building something better for our neighbors, our children, and the planet.
Warmly,
This Giving Tuesday, please donate to MediaJustice. Your donation supports a grassroots movement of people who have had enough of the future Silicon Valley wants to sell us.
Every gift leads to more packed city council meetings, more community engagement, and more wins.
