Dear friend,
It’s GivingTuesday, and I’m writing with fierce urgency, deep love, and unwavering belief in our community. Today, millions will give. We’re asking you to give to harm reduction, a movement that meets people where they're at, but doesn't leave them there — despite growing attacks on public health and well-being.
Black, Native, and Latine/x communities are disproportionately criminalized and are the most impacted by systemic injustices. People who use drugs are met with heightened stigma and denied life-saving care. Queer lives and histories are being silenced. Harm reduction programs have been threatened and defunded, and many have been forced to shut down. Despite this, harm reductionists show up daily, ensuring our people continue to live and lead, and are heard.
For 30 years, National Harm Reduction Coalition (NHRC) has refused to back down, and we’re not stopping now. Together with syringe services programs (SSPs), grassroots organizers, and leaders with lived and living experience, we’ve kept life-saving work alive even when the odds were against us.
This work is possible because of community strength, and because of you. At every critical moment, people like you have stepped forward to save lives and protect our work. Today, as opposition intensifies and funding is at risk, your support is more essential than ever.
Make your GivingTuesday gift now! Your contribution will:
Fuel harm reduction programs nationwide
Strengthen SSPs and frontline workers who continue showing up when others won’t
- Uplift leaders with lived and living experience and expand their reach and impact
Advocate for strategies that strengthen our communities, like opioid settlement funding to support life-saving harm reduction programs and services
Protect truth, community, and connection in a moment defined by fear and disinformation
