 Do you know a young person who loves reading? Nottingham City of Literature is looking for young people aged 14-25 years old, reading enthusiasts and interested in giving back to the community to join our Youth Selection Panel for Big City Reads 2026. The panel will select the final four book titles for our 2026 summer reading campaign!
As part of our Youth Selection Panel, young people will also have the opportunity to take part in our new professional development writing program, and learn practical skills in interviewing, writing reviews, being on an events panel, and learning about the publishing process.
Deadline to apply: Monday 12 January 2026, 5pm.

Step into the rich and passionate world of Nottingham's football scene. This exhibition celebrates the city’s deep-rooted love for the beautiful game, from muddy grassroots pitches to the roar of packed stadiums.
Through a curated selection of photographs, flyers, and articles from the Local Studies collection, explore how football has shaped - and been shaped by - our communities.

 Our computers are being upgraded to Windows 11 and Office 2024, Microsoft's latest operating system. It has a fresh new look but keeps many of the features you're used to. Changes include:
-
Windows 11 - The Start menu, taskbar, and desktop background have all been redesigned, while familiar features remain.

Office 2024 - PCs will include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

While we await the opening of the new Sherwood Library in 2026, a mobile library will visit Sherwood regularly to ensure you can continue enjoying library services.
 The mobile library will visit Woodthorpe Grange Park (Main Car Park) on select Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.

Jack and the Beanstalk | Friday 12 December | 6.30pm to 8.30pm | Tickets from £7 for children and £12 for adults
This Christmas, we're teaming up with SameDifferenceArts to bring the festive magic of Jack and the Beanstalk to Nottingham Central Library! Packed with laughter, toe-tapping songs, and plenty of audience participation, this magical 3-hander panto is bursting with mischievous villains, daring heroes, and fairy-tale fun for the whole family.
Five Leaves New Poetry Launch | Friday 5 December | 6.30pm to 9pm | Tickets from £3
Join us on Friday 5 December to celebrate the Five Leaves new poetry launch night with Sue Forrester, Elizabeth Dunford and Ramisha Rafique. Expect a book stall, refreshments and live readings as we commemorate the latest additions to the Five Leaves Poetry portfolio.
NottSpace: Working Model Satellite | Saturday 6 December | 11am to 2pm | Tickets free, booking required
The second and final workshop in the NottSpace residency program is Working Model Satellite - Structural Building and Testing, where you can build a satellite body, integrate electronics and test a working model satellite!
Nottingham Music Service: Pop-Up Christmas Concert | Thursday 18 & Friday 19 December | 12pm approx.
Nottingham Central Library is delighted to welcome Nottingham Music Service to our Atrium space, for two midday festive concerts. Working with young people across the city and county, come along to see the results of the wonderful work they do, and enjoy a selection of wintery favourites to really get you in the festive mood!
