EGP’s 40th Congress in Lisbon!
This Congress is a key event for the European Greens, bringing together hundreds of Green party delegates, national and local leaders, activists, civil society representatives, and supporters from across Europe.
At a time when Europe faces mounting threats and emerging possibilities, the Greens are resilient. Our movement continues to lead on solutions that protect nature, people’s rights and freedoms, defend the rule of law, push back against the far right, and build a just, sustainable future for everyone in Europe. Now more than ever, we need a united, progressive Greenmovement.
We will discuss topics like housing, resilience or gender-based violence. This Congress wouldn’t take place without our amazing speakers and experts. You can expect prominent names like Yolanda Diaz, Agnes Lace, Luka Mesec and Felix Banaszek.
This 40th Congress showcases a mature and relevant political force, central to building progressive majorities across the continent, and determined to expand its influence all over Europe, including in the Iberian Peninsula.
This year’s Congress is taking place in Lisbon is being organised together with our member party, LIVRE, to showcase how Greens can change the political landscape.

Only yes means yes
France is now the latest country to change the legal definition of rape. The new legal definition is based on active consent - only yes means yes: without consent, it’s not consensual so it’s rape. No more grey areas.
It is an incredible accomplishment from the French Greens and in particular from Marie-Charlotte Garin, Sandra Regol and Melanie Vogel, as well as activists and feminist associations.
It is essential that outdated legislations on rape be modernized across Europe. Survivors shouldn’t have to fight to get justice.
175,000 members in England and Wales!
By the time you read this, this number may have changed already because Green Party of England and Wales’s membership has gone through the roof, since Zack Polanski was elected as new party leader, together with Mothin Ali and Rachel Millward.
Hope is spreading over England and Wales, overtaking the Conservatives and coming for Reform and Labour next.

They broke the firewall. In a webinar involved MEPs Terry Reintke and Kira Peter-Hansen discussed the consequences of this vote and on how we will plan to mobilise and keep on fighting. The Green European Foundation has released three new policy briefs that show how upcoming EU energy measures can boost citizen participation through fair benefit sharing in renewable projects, consumer focused network tariffs and a resilience based approach to housing renovation. The winter edition of the Green European Journal will be out on 1st December. This print issue asks what culture and democracy can do for each other at a time when both face mounting challenges. As the far right captures cultural institutions, artists face further precarity from new technologies, and Europe’s political priorities shift, the new edition explores how creativity, imagination, and dialogue can strengthen democracy and help tackle the eco-social crisis.
