Tomorrow is Zoe Rosenberg’s sentencing hearing, and the uncertainty is heavy. She faces years behind bars for saving four chickens - Poppy, Ivy, Aster, and Azalea - from Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry.

*Zoe could become a political prisoner.* She could face a harsh no-contact order separating her from her closest friends and co-organizers. Or, she could receive little or no punishment. The decision is in the hands of Judge Gnoss.

Facing this level of uncertainty and repression never gets easy, but it’s the reality of fighting for animals. We take big risks because we know that it’s what successful social movements demand and because it’s what the animals deserve. We prepare as best we can with flow charts, contingency plans, detailed checklists, and ready-to-go press materials.
