Policies needed to assist care facilities

Dear John,

"There is an urgent need -
and there has been for some time - to address the
disproportionate vulnerability of this population."

That's Robert Egge, Alzheimer's
Association chief public policy officer, speaking about the increased
risk of COVID-19 exposure faced by those living in long-term care
settings.

He continues, "It has been
increasingly clear that nursing homes and other long-term care
communities are 'hot spots' for COVID-19. And their residents with
dementia are particularly susceptible due to their age, their
increased likelihood of coexisting chronic conditions and the
community nature of these settings."

If you have a loved one living with
Alzheimer's disease who is residing in a long-term care or another
care community, we're here for you. We have a repository of resources
and tips and

information on proposed improvements for this vulnerable population on
a larger scale.
