Dear John --
Today we announced New Zealand’s largest-ever infrastructure
package.
National is, and will continue to be, the
Party of meaningful infrastructure investment that makes a difference
in the lives of New Zealanders.
We need to
acknowledge that there is a congestion and infrastructure crisis in
Auckland, caused by decades of short-term thinking and
expedience.
My government will be different. It’s time
for boldness and long-term vision. Infrastructure takes time. In New
Zealand, it takes far too much time.
Our package
announced today will deliver:
The Upper North Island Expressway Network
- Connecting Auckland, Whangarei, Hamilton and Tauranga with
four-lane expressways.
Auckland Rapid Transit
- Expanding the Auckland Rapid Transit Network.
- Expanding the Auckland Rail Network.
- Building an additional Harbour crossing.
- Boosting Auckland’s public transport network.
Repealing the Resource Management Act
- Committing to repealing the Resource Management
Act, not just “reforming” it.
Changing the way infrastructure is funded.
- Introducing an intergenerational funding approach for
infrastructure to develop a pipeline of projects and invest
before they become urgent.
This package will transform the Upper North Island. And it
will transform Auckland.
National will repeal
the Auckland Regional Fuel Tax within our first 100 days in office,
delivering $150 million in savings per year into Aucklanders’ back
pockets.
The upcoming election is critical for New
Zealand. We need a government that has a clear vision and a strong
team to ensure we deliver on what matters for New Zealanders today and
into the future.
Only National has the ability to
deliver this, and we need your support to get it
done.
John, will you chip into our campaign fighting
fund today so National can invest and deliver the infrastructure
projects our country needs?

Today is only the beginning of our plan to get New Zealand
working.
Over the coming weeks my team and I will be
announcing further policy which I look forward to sharing with
you.
Kind regards,
Hon Judith Collins National Leader
