friend – the Big Give Christmas Challenge is here! And for one week all donations are worth DOUBLE!

For just seven days, every donation made via the Big Give will be matched. Meaning, whatever you give, we’ll receive double that amount.

It’s a huge opportunity to power up our campaigning – and you can help us make the most of it. By donating today ([link removed]) you can turn £10 into £20, £25 into £50, and £50 into £100!

And twice the value means twice the impact for our campaigns – and the people in countries like South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Ghana affected by unjust debt.

South Sudan is one of the poorest countries in the world and currently deep in a humanitarian crisis. 9 million people are facing acute hunger.

And yet, right now, South Sudan is being sued for unpaid debts – by oil trader BB Energy, who last year made nearly $300 million in profit! The injustice is gobsmacking.

But in the face of this injustice, there is hope. South Sudan’s debts, along with a massive 90% of the debts owed to big finance by countries in debt crisis, are overseen by UK law. A simple change to the law here would force private lenders like BB Energy to cancel unfair debts. And put a stop to unscrupulous lenders using UK law to sue lower-income countries in crisis.

Donate today ([link removed]) to drive forward our campaign for a debt justice law. And get your donation – and your impact – doubled!

Together we’ve already made huge strides towards making this law a reality. We’ve convinced MPs, worked with African High Commissioners, got the government to commit to “tackling unsustainable debt”, and even brought a bill to parliament.

And we’ve marked a new Jubilee Year – Jubilee 2025. Working with campaigners across the globe, we’ve built the biggest global debt movement in a generation. Hundreds of thousands have joined the call to demand global leaders “Cancel Debt, Choose Hope”.

In 2026, we have big plans to build on the momentum of the Jubilee and win justice for countries like South Sudan. But to put those plans into action we need you, friend.

Donate today ([link removed]) and you can turbo-charge our plans because anything you donate via the Big Give will be DOUBLED!

Hope is a powerful emotion, friend. And I am hopeful. Though there are 54 countries like South Sudan in debt crisis – forced to choose between debt repayments and essential services – and though we are facing the biggest debt crisis in 30 years, we are clear on the steps that leaders need to take to end that crisis. And our movement is edging closer and closer to winning action.

A debt justice law is within our reach! And funds raised through the Big Give this year could get the campaign over the line – mobilising more people to take action, building the momentum, and piling the pressure on the government to act.

Thank you for all you’re doing to help build a fairer world,

Heidi
Debt Justice director

PS. Don’t forget, anything you give via the Big Give ([link removed]) before midday 9 December will be DOUBLED!
