Dear Friend,

This Giving Tuesday, please invest in a world with less US-backed bombings, military interventions, and war.

The Quincy Institute works effectively, efficiently, creatively, and tirelessly to redirect US strategy away from endless conflict — toward a new course grounded in a realistic understanding of what truly keeps America safe.

We do this through daily publication of news and views in our online magazine, Responsible Statecraft, which breaks through the stale pro-war assumptions and conventional thinking that dominate mainstream foreign policy debates in Washington, DC. The platform’s success — over 10 million views this year alone — shows that Americans are hungry for a different vision of our role in the world.

Similarly, QI’s new book The Trillion Dollar War Machine exposes how the military-industrial complex distorts our priorities, undermines peace, and diverts resources needed elsewhere. Released on Veterans Day, it is Amazon’s #1 new release on military policy. Work like this lays the intellectual foundation for change, giving policymakers, journalists, and the public the tools to understand the system — and the courage to question it.

QI’s communications team is always pioneering new ways to get our analysis out. One recent op-ed by a team member ran in more than 90 papers across the country in 33 states. And QI’s presence on TikTok was cited by a mainstream publication as a uniquely smart move among foreign policy think tanks to reach younger audiences. In addition, our team regularly appears on broadcast and digital interview programs – old and new.

Not only do we challenge outdated assumptions, but we also shift incentives through evidence-based advocacy that moves Washington’s entrenched pro-war consensus. This Wednesday we will present the annual Quincy Award for Responsible Statecraft to two Members of Congress — Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) — for their bi-partisan efforts to reassert the constitutional requirement that Congress must authorize US wars.

Your support directly fuels all of this work — and more. Unlike other think tanks that seek to shape US war and peace policy, we do not accept funding from the US government, foreign governments or weapons contractors. We devote 82% of the funds we raise to direct programming, and I can assure you that our 2-person development team is extremely lean!

On this day when so many people donate to drive positive change, your support of the Quincy Institute will empower us to confront the forces constantly driving America to spend ever more on preparation for war and on fighting unnecessary wars.

Sincere thanks,

Mark Cunningham
Director of Development
