Dear Friend,

Tonight, hundreds of dogs and cats in Chicago are waiting for help. Some are frightened, some are sick, some are lonely—but all of them are depending on us. Tomorrow—Giving Tuesday—is their chance at life, love, and a future.

And thanks to a $55,000 Giving Tuesday Match, every gift you make before midnight tomorrow will be doubled—saving twice as many lives, healing twice as many wounds, and finding twice as many loving families for pets who need them.

Take Orlean. When she first came to PAWS, she was a frail, stray cat—struggling for every breath, her tiny body crawling with lice. She hid in corners, too scared to trust. Our medical team discovered a painful polyp blocking her airway and brought in special equipment to perform the delicate surgery that gave her life back. Then, with endless patience, our fosters and behavior team surrounded her with gentle care, showing her that she was finally safe.

Today, Orlean spends her days curled up in a quiet home, safe, warm, and treasured for her gentle soul.

And then there’s Boo and Roman. Boo had already known the heartbreak of adoption and return—still searching for the family who would truly be hers. Roman, just a year old, was surrendered by an owner who could no longer care for him. Both arrived at PAWS too frightened to trust, watching from the sidelines as roommate after roommate was adopted, while they were left behind.

But when our behavior team paired them together, something clicked. Boo and Roman clung to each other as if they had been waiting their whole lives to meet. Curled up side by side, they found comfort, courage, and the will to hope again.

Then came Margarita. She came to meet Boo and discovered the inseparable pair. Having once adopted a bonded pair, Margarita didn’t hesitate for a moment—opening her heart and home to them both.

Today, this little family is safe, loved, and thriving together.

These are the stories your gift makes possible. And tomorrow, your gift goes twice as far.

But none of this happens without you. Please be generous on this most important day of the year. When you give, they live.
