News from Congressman Jake Ellzey

Dear John,

Recent News

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends. We had a busy November and to kick it off I hosted a telephone town hall. We had more than 8,000 folks join the conversation that night! I always appreciate the chance to hear directly from our district, and the questions covered everything from national security to veterans’ services to the issues facing our rural communities.

We had more questions than we could get to during the call, but everyone who asked one has been or will be contacted by me or a member of my team. These conversations continue to shape the work we do every day, and I’m grateful to everyone who took the time to participate

Each month I get the opportunity to sit down with constituents that come to DC to discuss things facing them back at home. I wanted to highlight a couple of those here:

This month, I sat down with the American Association of Crop Insurers to talk through the challenges facing our agricultural communities and the ongoing efforts to strengthen the safety net that protects our producers. Meetings like this are always valuable, but they mean even more when a constituent is at the table. I appreciated the chance to visit with Steven Emerson of Las Colinas, who brought a hometown perspective to the discussion.

I also met with representatives from John Deere and United Ag & Turf, joined by two folks who live and work right in our district: Clint Tillison, who operates two dealerships in TX-06, and Steven Beakley of Beakley Farms in Ennis. These are the men and women who keep our farmers equipped, our fields moving, and our rural communities strong. Hearing directly from them helps keep my work grounded in the needs of the families who feed and fuel Texas.

District Update

As we step into the Christmas season, I want to share a look back at what our office has been working on across TX 06. This month was full of community events, service projects, and opportunities to visit with folks and hear what matters most to them.

Community Project Funding Workshop
Our team hosted a Community Project Funding and federal grant workshop for city and county leaders, local nonprofits, and others across TX 06. We walked through eligibility requirements, selection criteria, timelines, and the federal grant process. We also discussed the casework support our office provides across more than 300 federal agencies. I appreciate everyone who joined us as we work to bring federal resources back home to our district.

Veterans Resource Fair
One of the highlights of the month was our Veterans Resource Fair at Midlothian City Hall. More than 25 local, state, and federal organizations came together under one roof, and over 100 veterans received information about services and benefits available to them. Our team also showcased the veteran casework we handle every day, helping our servicemembers and their families navigate federal agencies and get the answers they need. We will always stand with our veterans and work to meet their needs.

Serving Our Community
November brought so many opportunities to lend a hand. Our team volunteered at the WINTER WARMTH event hosted by TXU and Waxahachie Care Services where we distributed coats, stocked shelves, and supported families preparing for the colder months.

We also joined thousands of volunteers at the Tarrant Area Food Bank distribution event at AT&T Stadium where more than 4,000 registered families received food for the holidays.

When a local nonprofit reached out in need of turkeys for their holiday distribution, we and many generous folks throughout the community stepped up. As we move into winter, please take a moment to check in on the nonprofits near you. Many are in need of blankets, coats, shoes, and toys to support families during the holiday season.

Thank You to Our Teachers
Over the past three months our office has had the privilege of serving more than 1,600 teachers across the district. These pop-up visits are a small way to say thank you to the men and women who pour into our students every day. Their work is invaluable, and I hope each visit reminds them how appreciated they are. If we have not visited your school yet, please reach out. We would love to make it happen.

Building Tomorrow’s Leaders
November also marked the launch of our inaugural Future Leader’s Forum. High school students from across TX 06 came together to discuss public safety, housing, leadership, and the issues they care about most. They heard from members of our Congressional team, Midlothian PD, the Dallas Housing Coalition, and others who offered insight based on the questions students submitted on their applications.

Our final roundtable will take place this month. Applications for the Spring Forum will open later this month for high school juniors and seniors who are serving their schools or communities or who have a desire to grow as leaders.

Around the Community
We enjoyed joining more than 2,000 families at Corsicana’s annual Boo on the Square celebration. Our team also appreciated the invitations to National Night Out and National Police Week. These events give us the chance to thank the men and women in law enforcement who keep our communities safe.

Growth continues across TX 06 and it is always exciting to participate in ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, and community celebrations with our local Chambers of Commerce. Please keep the invitations coming. We are honored to be part of these moments with you.
