Message from Congressman Scott Fitzgerald
Good afternoon, everyone!
I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and had the chance to enjoy gun deer hunting season with family and friends. Hunting is a long-standing Wisconsin tradition, and as an avid hunter myself, I am committed to protecting the outdoor traditions that have long made Wisconsin a destination for hunters and anglers.
I am proud to be a cosponsor of H.R. 556, the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act. This bill ensures that the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture cannot prohibit or regulate the use of lead ammunition or tackle on federal lands and waters available for hunting or fishing. It's an important step in preserving the rights of hunters and anglers across Wisconsin.
Keep reading on to hear additional updates about what's been happening in Washington and Wisconsin. I hope you have a great week.

Rep. Fitzgerald Discusses What Republicans Are Working Toward in a New Healthcare Plan
In case you missed it, I joined Fox Business this morning to discuss what Republicans in Congress are working toward in a new healthcare plan.
I agree with President Trump we need to put individuals back in control of their own healthcare. HSAs and HRAs are proven solutions to the problems caused by Obamacare. HRAs let employers set aside tax-free dollars for employees to use on medical expenses. They also give employees the ability to choose the health plan that works best for them instead of being forced to a single employer-sponsored option.
Rep. Fitzgerald: HRAs Could Address Major Problem in Obamacare Marketplace
Wisconsin families deserve a healthcare system where they can choose a plan that fits their needs and benefit from a competitive marketplace. HRAs provide that choice. With the shutdown behind us and an Obamacare bailout avoided, now is the time to place HRAs at the center of the healthcare system to put patients first.

HUD Delivers Disaster Aid, Financial Flexibility for Wisconsin Residents Impacted by Natural Disasters
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner announced the availability of federal disaster assistance to the State of Wisconsin to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding and mudslides from Aug. 9-12, 2025.
“One of our core responsibilities at HUD is to help rebuild homes, businesses, and communities after natural disasters,” said HUD Secretary Scott Turner. “We are supporting residents of Wisconsin by providing financial flexibility and disaster recovery resources to those impacted by the recent disasters.”
“I commend Secretary Turner and the Department of Housing and Urban Development for delivering critical assistance to Wisconsinites following President Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration. HUD’s support will provide families and affected communities with the resources, flexibility, and guidance they need to rebuild and recover from this summer’s tragic storms and flooding,” said U.S. Representative Scott Fitzgerald (R-WI-05).
President Trump issued a major disaster declaration for the State of Wisconsin on September 12, 2025.
Effectively immediately, HUD is:
Providing financial flexibility - A 90-day moratorium is issued on foreclosures of mortgages insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) as well as foreclosures of mortgages to Native American borrowers guaranteed under the Section 184 Indian Home Loan Guarantee program. HUD’s Section 184 Program imposes on servicers a 90-day foreclosure moratorium for any impacted borrowers in an area designated by a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration (PDD). HUD’s Office of Native American Programs will send out a mass communication to Section 184 lenders and servicers reminding them of the PDD policy. There is also a 90-day extension granted automatically for Home Equity Conversion Mortgages. The moratorium and extension are effective as of the President’s disaster declaration date.
Homeowners affected by the disaster should contact their mortgage or loan servicer immediately for assistance. Conventional mortgage holders may also be eligible for additional relief through their mortgage holder.
Call the FHA Resource Center at 1-800-304-9320 or email [email protected] for additional information. To learn more about disaster relief options for FHA homeowners, visit the FHA Disaster Relief site.
