Dear
SPUC supporter,
This week we enter that wonderful season of the year when our thoughts turn towards the birth of a child.
Even in our secular age, the Divine Child will take centre stage for the next four weeks.
Images of His life will be seen by everyone through nativity plays and carol concerts, Christmas cards and decorations, and many other customs that we still cherish.
Together, we will see an angel announce His conception to His mother, and watch Elizabeth rejoice at His presence in her cousin’s womb.
We will observe Him in the loving care of His mother Mary and His foster father St Joseph. And we will marvel as shepherds and kings kneel in adoration before Him.
The focus of all these images will be a little child.
And through the light of this Divine Child all our children will be illuminated.
Christmas reminds us of the wonder of new life and the magic of childhood.
For the next 12 days, I will share how SPUC is putting children back at the centre of our cultural and political life and ask you to support our lifesaving work.
But if you're already convinced by our mission – and want to donate today – you can do so now by clicking on the link below.

There is no feast in the Christian calendar that is more focused on childhood than Christmas.
For a few weeks, children become the focus of our cultural life. Families gather together and put children at the heart of the celebrations.
Christmas reminds us of what is truly important in this life.
And this reminder has never been so important than today.
The tragic truth is that while the families rejoice in the wonder of childhood, those who govern us have forgotten the value of human life.
In our politics, and in our laws, children are no longer cherished or protected.
For nearly 60 years, it has been legal to kill unborn babies, and now our politicians want to extend the killing even further.
On 17 June 2025, MPs voted by 379 to 117 to decriminalise abortion right up to birth.
This means that mothers who deliberately cause the death of their child – for example by taking abortion pills – will not be prosecuted, even if the killing takes place after the 24-week limit.
This amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill will be debated by the House of Lords on 22 January 2026.
As the public prepares to welcome the Christ Child, the political class is putting the final touches on an abortion regime they have been constructing since the 1960s.
We urgently need to put children back at the centre of our political and cultural life.
This is the mission SPUC is carrying out every day.
We do this by:
* Professional lobbying which brings the pro-life message straight to MPs, Peers, and members of devolved assemblies.
* The largest grassroots lobbying operation in Europe, which mobilises thousands of activists to take political action.
* A life-changing education programme which brings the pro-life message to schools, colleges, and universities.
* An adult education programme which forms hearts and minds through regional and national conferences, local public meetings, and cutting-edge research and briefings.
* Extensive street outreach and door-to-door leafleting which bypasses the mainstream media and brings the truth directly to ordinary people.
* Nationwide acts of public witness which ensure that the plight of unborn children cannot be ignored.
Through work like this SPUC is putting unborn children at the heart of politics in this country.
But we need your help to keep each project going and growing.
SPUC does not receive funding from government or big business.
This means we are completely independent and free to do what is right.
But it also means that we are entirely dependent on the donations of good pro-life men and women like you.
Make no mistake, if SPUC didn’t exist there would be no-one to stop the political class taking every right away from unborn babies and all other vulnerable members of our society.
Your donation is essential to stop abortion and assisted suicide in this country.

In the coming days I will share more about our lifesaving work, but if you already know you would like to support our campaign, please make a donation today.
Donations received early can be put to work sooner to save lives.
Every donation, no matter what the size, can be used by SPUC to build a society in which every innocent life is protected from the moment of conception until natural death.
And every donation is deeply appreciated by me and by every member of our SPUC team.

May God bless you and may the Christ Child lead us all towards a greater love for children this Christmas.
Yours with deepest gratitude,
John Deighan
Chief Executive
P.S. Our nation’s continued love of Christmas and its annual celebration of childhood is an encouraging sign. Many people still know what is important in life. Our job is to cut through political propaganda and make sure the public knows the full truth about abortion.
Please help SPUC spread this truth by giving a gift today.
