One of the things that pisses me off the most about Donald Trump, Pete Hegseth, and the rest of them is how absolutely certain they are that they’re never going to be held accountable for anything — not their corruption, not their abuses of power, not even for the lives they ruin. They walk through the world with this swaggering confidence that the law exists for everyone but them. And they’ve gotten away with so much for so long that, honestly, why wouldn’t they think that?
And if you’ve felt overwhelmed by the sheer volume of shit coming out of this administration — that’s the point. They flood the zone with so many scandals, so many norm-shattering power grabs, that people simply stop keeping track.
So let me ground this moment clearly, because what’s happening right now is not normal, not legal, and not even close to defensible:
The Trump administration launched lethal strikes on Venezuelan nationals in the Caribbean with zero congressional authorization — no briefing, no debate, no oversight.
Pete Hegseth personally pushed for those strikes and then reportedly ordered a second strike to kill the survivors who were floating on rafts — an escalation so lawless and cruel it should stop the country in its tracks.
They’re calling certain Venezuelan gang members “terrorists” to exploit loopholes in war powers laws.
And Trump is seriously floating the idea of designating the Venezuelan government itself as a terrorist organization — which isn’t foreign policy; it’s a manufactured pretext for war.
And through all of this, they’ve given the American people zero explanation. No transparency. No justification. Nothing.
This is a shadow war built on lies and impunity, and we’re paying for it.

None of these abuses are happening in isolation. This is exactly what people have been warning about for years — that once an authoritarian movement realizes the guardrails are weak, they will smash every single one of them.
Pete Hegseth and Pam Bondi gutted the oversight structure inside their agencies before they even started. They fired inspectors general, dismantled watchdog offices, and replaced career public servants with loyalists whose only job is to say “yes.” They’ve warped the military chain of command so badly that a Fox News pundit with no foreign policy experience is now calling shots that can start wars.
And the Constitution means nothing to them. These lawless, ignorant, wannabe fascist tyrants don’t treat the Constitution like a nuisance — they treat it like an enemy. They spit on it, they undermine it, and they tear through it every time it threatens their grip on power.
They don’t care if what they’re doing is illegal. They don’t care if it’s immoral. They don’t care if it puts American lives at risk. The only thing they care about is power — and they are absolutely certain that Trump will “take care of them” if anything goes wrong. Because he has. Over and over again. An unbelievable number of corrupt pardons have already been issued to protect his allies, his co-conspirators, and his cronies.
And the worst part? Our system isn’t strong enough to stop it… yet. Twenty years of expanding presidential power after 9/11, Congress giving up its war-making authority, and the normalization of drone warfare created a perfect on-ramp for a president who sees every legal boundary as a personal challenge.
And if you’re reading this wondering why it matters to you, here’s the reality:
When a president can launch a secret war without oversight, you are less safe.
When corruption replaces competence, your costs go up.
When the government can declare anyone a “terrorist” to justify violence, that power will eventually be used at home.
History is not subtle about this progression.
And on top of all of that, there’s the sheer betrayal of it — betrayal of our servicemembers, who didn’t enlist to follow illegal orders from a TV pundit; betrayal of the American people, who deserve transparency and honesty; betrayal of the Constitution, which has been reduced to an obstacle instead of the rulebook for governing a democracy.
And as horrific as Donald Trump is — and he is a historic disaster — the next guy could be even worse if we don’t rein this in right now.
So what do we do? Especially if Democrats aren’t in power at this exact moment?
What do we do when the people breaking the law are the ones running the show?
Here’s the truth:
We don’t get to tune out.
We don’t get to look away.
We don’t get to let exhaustion become the thing that saves them.
Trump has gotten away with this shit for years — not because the evidence wasn’t there, but because people lost faith that accountability was even possible. And honestly, I don’t blame them. When the powerful walk free over and over again, it breaks something in the public. It convinces people that nothing matters, nothing changes, and the system is too rigged to be fixed.
But that cynicism is exactly what they’re counting on. Chaos is their weapon. Exhaustion is their shield. Public amnesia is their strategy.
So what do we do now?
We remember.
We keep receipts.
We call it out.
We tell the truth — even when people are tired of hearing it.
Because there will be a reckoning. Maybe not tomorrow, but it will come.
Guys like Trump always think they’re untouchable — right up until they’re not.
And when power shifts — and it will — we cannot waste the moment. We need real oversight, real reform, and real accountability. No more loopholes. No more unchecked power.
This is the moment.
We either stay focused or surrender the country to people who treat our laws like suggestions and our Constitution like an obstacle.
If we refuse to forget, if we refuse to look away — then there’s still something left to fight for.
