Gun violence continues to take lives in Washington at an alarming rate. In 2022, there were 1,015 preventable firearm deaths among Washington residents, while firearms remain the leading cause for death for children and teens in the U.S. The fact is that these tragedies are preventable.
In just a few weeks, the legislative session begins. That means new bills to strengthen safe storage laws, protecting permit-to-purchase from challenges, advancing community violence intervention funding, and fighting back against efforts to weaken our existing firearm laws.
We are preparing right now by gathering testimony, meeting with lawmakers, training volunteers, and organizing communities across the state. But to do this work at the scale required, we need your help.
