Malliotakis Here's a quick update on what I've been working on during this past month across Washington DC, Staten Island, and Southern Brooklyn...   Dear Neighbor, After a long 43-day government shutdown, Congress can finally get back to serving the American people. This shutdown was entirely avoidable had Senate Democrats supported the existing, negotiated funding levels they themselves previously voted for multiple times. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been hard at work both in the district and in Washington, D.C. As your voice in Washington, I will always fight for you and ensure our office is available whenever you need assistance with any federal agency — whether it’s helping you receive the benefits you’re owed, cutting through red tape, or resolving delays that impact you and your family. I’m proud to represent so many veterans from Staten Island & Brooklyn & will always work to ensure they receive the care, benefits & respect they’ve earned. From delivering funding for upgrades at Fort Hamilton Army Base and our VA Hospital to helping cut the VA benefits backlog by 57% from 264,717 to 112,353 from January, I will always fight for those who protect our city and our nation. READ MORE SPEAKING ON THE HOUSE FLOOR AGAINST THE DANGERS OF SOCIALISM I spoke on the House floor in support of Congresswoman Maria Salazar’s (FL-27) resolution H.Con.Res.58. This resolution denounces socialism and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States. The resolution passed with bipartisan support (285-98-2), but 98 House Democrats refused to join us in denouncing socialism. Socialism is merely Communism-light, and as someone whose mother fled Communist Cuba in 1959, I understand firsthand how socialist policies erode prosperity and freedom, robbing hopes and dreams. Unfortunately, here in the United States, we’re seeing similar far left policies take root in our own city. Watch more below. WATCH MY SPEECH STATEN ISLAND & BROOKLYN FERRY ROUTE OFFICIALLY RELAUNCHED AFTER DECADES Starting Monday, December 8, I’m pleased that NYC EDC has decided to once again link Staten Island directly with Brooklyn through fast ferry service. This system-wide optimization will give commuters and travelers a faster, more efficient route, reducing travel times and improving reliability throughout the city. This is a big win for Staten Islanders and Brooklynites who work, study, or regularly travel between both sides of the Verrazzano, providing a long-desired transportation alternative for our community. READ MORE DELIVERING THANKSGIVING MEALS ACROSS BROOKLYN AND STATEN ISLAND I delivered turkeys and roasted chickens in Brooklyn with State Senator Steve Chan and Embrace Relief. We stopped at Reaching Out Community Services in Bensonhurst, and we later stopped at Staten Island's Turkish Cultural Center and Bethel Worship Center. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! TOWN HALL WITH STATEN ISLAND'S LIBERIAN COMMUNITY ON PUBLIC SAFETY   I was happy to join members of Staten Island’s Liberian community today for a town hall & positive discussion on public safety, immigration & foreign policy. JOINING CASITA COFFEE SHOP'S GRAND OPENING ON STATEN ISLAND   This month, I joined the owners & staff for the grand opening of Casita, a Greek & Latin coffee shop at 1456 Richmond Road in Dongan Hills on Staten Island. We wish them the best! RECOGNIZING THE WORKERS WHO BUILT NEW YORK CITY I joined Rep. Mike Lawler & NYC Building Trades President Gary LaBarbera at the Building Trades Employers Association Gala to celebrate both innovative job creators and the hardworking men & women of labor who built New York City. Our city has its remarkable skyline because of the many companies & unions that gathered at this event.   CELEBRATING 47 YEARS OF STATEN ISLAND'S FIRST CENTRAL BAPTIST CHURCH I joined Rev. Dr. Demetrius Carolina & the congregants of First Central Baptist Church to celebrate the 47th anniversary of their parish. We wish them many more years of blessings! HONORING THE SERVICE & SACRIFICE OF STATEN ISLAND POLICE OFFICERS Our office joined the community in honoring the fallen police officers who called Staten Island home. There are many active and retired law enforcement residents in our district, and we thank them for their service and their families for their sacrifice.   IN CASE YOU MISSED IT   Fox News: America's Newsroom Rep. Nicole Malliotakis joined America's Newsroom, stating that she and President Trump will do everything they can to keep Mayor-elect Mamdani in check and stop his socialist agenda from destroying New York City. WATCH NOW Fox News: Ingraham Angle Rep. Nicole Malliotakis joined the Ingraham Angle on Fox News warning that New Yorkers will learn the hard way what socialism is. WATCH NOW NY1: Spectrum News I’m cautiously optimistic about the Mayor-elect’s decision to keep NYPD Commissioner Tisch but this will only work out for New Yorkers & our officers if he takes her advice & recommendations. He has already reversed course on replacing cops with social workers for domestic incidents. That’s good news. WATCH NOW Malliotakis blasts socialism on House floor on same day Mamdani and Trump meet Malliotakis said of the meeting between Mamdani and Trump, “Clearly, our president and mayor-elect had a positive first meeting. If they can meet in the middle, it will be a good thing for New Yorkers. “As our city’s only Republican representative in Washington, I’ll push back on Mamdani’s socialist agenda but will also fight any attempt to punish New York.
