When I was in Texas recently, ranchers and restaurant owners told me the same thing: the meatpacking giants have a chokehold on America’s beef supply, and it’s driving up costs. 

Four massive corporations control over 80 percent of the beef industry in the United States.

• They decide what ranchers get paid.
• They set the prices that families pay at the grocery store.  
• And everyone loses, except the corporate middlemen.

This isn’t a free market. It’s a rigged market. And it’s time for Congress to take action, crack down on centralized meatpacking, and support local and regional meatpackers. 

Tell Congress: Break up meatpacking monopolies.

Our ranchers deserve to sell their product for what it’s worth, and hardworking families deserve affordable beef sourced right here at home. The only way we make that happen is by breaking the bottleneck these meatpackers have created.
