My name is Dr. Samra, and I serve on Project HOPE’s medical team in Gaza. I joined Project HOPE to be closer to my community, to stand beside people when they are at their most vulnerable, and to help them carry the invisible burdens they bring with them.

Every day here begins before sunrise. By 6 a.m., I’m on my way to the medical point, never knowing what the day will bring — which patients have arrived overnight, or whether we’ll have the supplies we need. Some challenges are visible, others are not. The hardest part is listening to people’s pain while trying to stay strong for them.
