For decades, women’s and girls’ sports have enjoyed widespread and enduring support. They have been a remarkable American success story. At Minnesota Family Institute and our legal initiative, True North Legal, we’re the first line of defense to ensure that women and girls continue to have opportunities to win and compete on their own teams.

True North Legal is working tirelessly from the Capitol to the courts advocating for women and girls across our state because a violation of one girl’s rights is one too many. However, as my colleague Rebecca has shared, Minnesota’s progressive administration and members of our legislature are doubling down on their unwillingness to ensure that women’s and girls’ teams are just for them. We need your financial support now so that we can continue to be advocates for women and girls in the courts and in public policy at the state Capitol!

Across the country, including in Minnesota, we’ve seen harm come to women and girls when sports eligibility is based on gender identity, rather than sex.

That’s why our work goes beyond the Capitol. True North Legal joined national advocacy efforts on this issue in an upcoming U.S. Supreme Court case, filing an amicus brief asking the Court to follow the spirit and intent of Title IX. Our brief tells the success stories of our clients who are some of the first female athletes to play sports since Title IX was enacted, including Rep. Barbara Ehardt who authored one of the bills at issue in this significant case and 206 female legislators from across the country.
