We already have seen polls that show Republican Steve Hilton, a former Fox News host, leading in this race. And with our new billionaire opponent already dropping $2 million on TV ads, we can expect this race to get even more competitive.
In terms of how I’m spending my time, I’m going to continue what I’ve been doing since we launched our campaign, which is getting into every part and pocket of California and meeting people where they are. To represent a big state like California, I can’t wait to hear people’s stories and bring communities together to work on solutions for our biggest challenges.
But on the money side, the reality is that winning elections here is expensive, and outside groups are going to be making decisions very soon about whether to flood money into this race.
For a campaign like ours that rejects money from corporations, lobbyists, and Big Bank CEOs, this is a make or break moment.
