Donald Trump has spent his entire second term pursuing retribution against his political opponents, including members of the watchdog press whom he calls “the enemy of the people.”
We’d be fooling ourselves if we didn’t take these threats seriously.
In fact, Trump’s recent presidential memorandum NSPM-7 orders the Justice Department to create a secret, McCarthyite list of progressive organizations and then directs the FBI to “investigate, prosecute, and disrupt” these groups as “domestic terrorists.”
This puts the entire progressive nonprofit and advocacy community at risk — the very people and groups doing the most to oppose Trump’s destructive policies and the corporate corruption he enables.
This is why it’s so vital that we meet our Giving Tuesday goal of raising $50,000, not only to support our daily nonprofit news coverage detailing these threats, but also to ensure we can fight back if and when NSPM-7 is used against us.
It’s a situation we never thought we’d find ourselves in, but we refuse to back down. And we’re counting on you to stand with us come what may.
