Friends -
Don't let anyone fool you.
Progressive grassroots energy is winning major political victories at the federal, state and local level — and out on the streets as well. Together, in a profound way, despite hysterical opposition from the most dangerous president in American history, our agenda and the political revolution is gaining more and more support.
Now, in this unprecedented moment in American history, we cannot slow down our efforts. We've got to accelerate.
In just a moment, I am going to ask you to split a contribution between Rashida Tlaib, Cori Bush, and Beth Doglio’s campaigns for Congress. Please give me a chance to explain why this request — especially right now — is so important.
Here is the truth:
All across this country, from coast to coast, people are standing up and fighting back — not only against Trump, but for an agenda that works for the working families of this country.
We’ve seen that in public demands for a congressional response to COVID-19 that addresses the economic and health care crisis in this country.
We’ve seen that as hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets to demand an end to systemic racism and police brutality and murders.
And we’ve seen that in a number of electoral campaigns where support from the grassroots has propelled progressives to victory in races against establishment candidates.
But we cannot stop now. Rashida Tlaib, a great supporter of our campaign, Cori Bush and Beth Doglio all have very difficult races coming up, and they can use our help. These are three progressives we want in Congress. So I am asking:
Just this week, we won three more big victories:
Mike Siegel in Texas won his Democratic primary race for Congress by less than 4,000 votes, Mondaire Jones was declared the winner in his New York congressional primary and José Garza won his campaign for Travis County DA.
These are all campaigns we asked our supporters to get involved with, and in all instances your participation made a difference.
Twenty-six of our endorsed candidates, at all levels of government, have won difficult races. We have far more wins than losses under our belt, which is not always easy when you are often taking on well-funded establishment campaigns.
In Philadelphia, we helped elect four candidates for the state legislature, and The Philadelphia Inquirer noted that our political revolution "continues to reshape Democratic politics in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania."
The truth is, despite the opposition of powerful special interests, we are transforming American politics. And, if we keep fighting, we are going to transform this country in November. But we cannot stop now — we must elect the most progressive Congress possible. And helping Rashida, Beth and Cori will go a long way toward that goal.
Thank you for your continued support for our progressive agenda, and for progressive campaigns across the country.
In solidarity,
Bernie Sanders
