 Library Closed in Observance of Christmas

The Library is closed on Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday, but our online services are available 24/7. Just go to hursttx.gov/hplonline to access eBooks, streaming media, and more. The Library will reopen at our usual time, Friday, December 26, at 10 a.m.

Dress in your finest wizarding robes, house colors, or magical cosplay and prepare for a night of spellbinding fun! Costumes are encouraged, magic is guaranteed, and the memories will last long after the last snowflake falls.

Join us at the Story Laboratory for a journey into the world of gravity! We'll read fun stories about what happens when gravity is strong, when it's weak, and when a famous scientist makes a groundbreaking discovery. After our stories, we'll become artists and scientists, using the force of gravity to create a unique piece of art that could only be made by a downward pull.

Join us to make the viral, Pinterest-inspired ornament craft featuring HPL's most popular book titles of 2025, and commemorate the year with your own tiny book collection. Caregivers will need to assist younger participants.
Holiday Cookie Decorating Tuesday, December 23, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Program Rooms North and South
Celebrate the holiday season with a sweet treat. Come and decorate cookies with friends and family. Cookies and decorations provided, but spots are limited, so sign up at hursttx.gov/hplsignup.

Let the holidays wrap you in cheer! Support the Library and cross gift wrapping off your to-do list at All Wrapped Up, a festive fundraiser hosted by the Teen Innovation Panel. Our team of teen gift-wrapping pros will transform your presents into perfectly wrapped surprises for just $1 donation per package (limit 10 packages per person).
While you wait, enjoy the magical sounds of the season with a live holiday concert by the Concert Bells of Fort Worth from 2-3 p.m. in Program Rooms North & South—it’s the perfect way to give back and get into the holiday spirit!
 Teens Touch Grass

Are you feeling a little too online? Unplug and touch grass at this monthly outdoor teen program! Each month, we'll offer a different crafty, sporty, or social activity to get you up and out during the school year. Open to grades 6-12.
We don't get snow in Texas - but we can pretend! Join us for a "snowball" fight, no mittens required!
