Friends,
Donald Trump is using the ongoing pandemic as an excuse to restrict immigration even further.
According to CNN, a newly-proposed rule by the Trump administration “would make it more difficult for migrants to seek refuge in the United States.”
Essentially, the new policy would bar asylum-seekers -- who are also called refugees -- from any country experiencing a disease outbreak.
It’s a shamelessly transparent way to further hurt the vulnerable during a historic crisis -- and since the rule doesn’t explicitly mention COVID-19, it could be used to restrict immigration long after the current pandemic ends. Unfortunately, it’s the kind of inhumane cruelty we’ve come to expect from this administration -- but that doesn’t mean we have to stand for it. Will you join us in standing up for asylum-seekers and standing against Donald Trump? Tell us:
