We’re guessing your inbox is probably filled with end-of-month fundraising emails right now, each one more panicked-sounding than the last (we get those, too — and immediately delete them).
Overly dramatic emails aren’t just cringe-inducing, they can be disingenuous and dishonest, too, using a false sense of urgency, unrealistic promises, and made-up deadlines to compel people to donate.
So as a rule, we don’t send those! Instead, we want to be 100% transparent about why the next few days and weeks matter so much to federal campaigns like Sara’s:
We’re heading into the final stretch of the year, when no one wants to spend more time reading emails and clearing out their inboxes than is absolutely necessary.
But there’s also the reality that tomorrow (November 30th) is our last internal benchmark before the final FEC deadline of the year at the end of December. Every federal candidate in the country is legally required by the FEC to file a public campaign finance report of what they’ve raised through December 31.
These reports have major implications for campaigns like Sara’s. Strong reports can lead to additional support, positive press coverage, and larger investments from allies. Weak reports can do the opposite — they can extinguish any momentum a candidate might’ve had, and give potential opponents a signal to jump into the race or make additional investments.
All this can feel very “inside-baseball” at times, but the most important thing to take away is that every dollar we raise right now helps us enter December in the strongest possible position — and kick off 2026 ready to win big.
Sara is preparing for a more competitive district under California’s new congressional maps, while also helping support Democrats across the country to flip the House next year. All of that requires serious planning and resources before the year closes out. A strong November lays the foundation for Sara to build the kind of operation she’ll need next year to compete and win.
