Email from Rep. Tenney Congresswoman Tenney's Weekly Newsletter   Have Questions? Contact Me Here Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving has passed, but “In all things give thanks” still rings true. The Pilgrims’ first Thanksgiving in 1621 was a moment of gratitude in the midst of hardship, and it remains a powerful reminder of who we are as a nation. Across NY-24 last week, families gathered, churches opened their doors to neighbors, and our local businesses and farm communities helped make the holiday possible for so many. I am grateful every day for the families, farmers, veterans, and small businesses that make upstate New York home. As we enter the Christmas season, I will continue working to defend our freedoms, support those who serve, and deliver results that ease the burden on working families. Thank you for the trust you place in me to represent you in Congress. I wish you peace, strength, and renewed faith in the promise of America as the year comes to a close. Happy Thanksgiving! Shop Local Small Business Saturday This Small Business Saturday, I am grateful for the local shops, family farms, and small manufacturers that serve as the backbone of Upstate New York. Their hard work brings life to our towns and opportunity to our families, and NY-24 is stronger because of them. I will continue fighting to ensure our small business owners have a fair chance to grow, hire, and succeed. When we shop small, we invest directly in the future of our community. I encourage you to join me in supporting our small businesses throughout this holiday season. As your representative in Congress, my top priority is championing legislative initiatives that benefit you and your families. Each week, I review numerous bills and letters, engaging in thorough discussions with members of our community to determine which actions to support and address your needs. Below are a few bills I recently cosponsored. H.R. 3078, the Stop Fentanyl Smuggling Act: This bill would direct the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Laboratories to research, develop, and test new technologies to detect fentanyl. Illicit drugs such as fentanyl result in thousands of overdoses and deaths in the U.S. and are smuggled by criminal organizations across the border and within prisons. This bill would help provide critical support for rapid, accurate screening at border entry points and for enhanced screening capabilities for corrections officers. H.R. 5800, the SAFE Drivers Act: This bill would create additional English language proficiency testing requirements for CDL learners. Federal regulations require commercial drivers to have basic English proficiency, but there is no standalone test to verify it, and states like California hand out commercial licenses to drivers who can't understand basic safety instructions. This bill supports President Trump's Executive Order 14286, Enforcing Commonsense Rules of the Road for America’s Truck Drivers, to ensure our roadways are safe and that commercial drivers comply with the highest possible safety standards. H.R. 4474, the Equal Shot Act of 2025: This bill would prohibit the Small Business Administration (SBA) and any future Administrator from discriminating against firearm-related businesses in the distribution of financial assistance. During former President Biden's administration, radical far-left policies attacked hardworking Americans who support our Constitutional rights, stifling businesses and jobs. We must ensure that small business owners are not subject to politically motivated bias and guarantee that businesses supporting the Second Amendment have the same access to federal resources as any other eligible business. Recognizing Retired Wayne County Sheriff Richard Pisciotti's Legacy Our team participated in the dedication of the Wayne County Public Safety Building as the Richard Pisciotti Public Safety Building, recognizing the extraordinary service of retired Sheriff Richard Pisciotti. More than 200 community members, law enforcement officials, and local leaders gathered to celebrate his decades of leadership and unwavering commitment to keeping Wayne County safe. Our team presented an official congressional proclamation acknowledging his distinguished career and lifelong dedication to public safety. Sheriff Pisciotti’s integrity, service, and impact have shaped the county for generations, and it was a privilege to recognize his remarkable contributions. Ribbon-Cutting for UConnectCare Women's and Children's Center Our team attended the ribbon-cutting for the new UConnectCare Women and Children’s Center in Albion, an amazing facility designed to give women and their children the support, safety, and stability they need to rebuild their lives. The center will house up to 25 women and children for up to six months as they receive treatment and rehabilitation services. The building includes secure wings for mothers and children, dedicated program space, a fully equipped kitchen where residents will learn nutrition and cooking skills, and a caring staff committed to helping families get back on their feet. This center is an important investment in recovery, dignity, and hope for families across our region. Power of Partnership Annual Meeting at Seasons on Keuka Lake Our team attended the Power of Partnership Annual Meeting in Penn Yan, hosted by the Yates County Chamber of Commerce and the Finger Lakes Economic Development Center, to hear directly from local leaders about the economic landscape in Yates County. This annual gathering provides an important forum to connect with employers, innovators, and community partners who drive growth in the Finger Lakes. Our team had productive conversations with business owners and organizers about the challenges and opportunities ahead, continuing to strengthen the partnerships that support jobs, investment, and long-term economic vitality across NY-24.
