VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump gets instant karma after crazy Thanksgiving rant
The president's disgustingly racist and ableist Thanksgiving tirade, in which he trashed the Governor of Minnesota as "seriously retarded," came back to haunt him almost immediately. Trump's plans to cheat himself out a bigger House majority went up in smoke as a major Indiana Republican, whose daughter has Downs syndrome, took serious issue with the president's insulting language and announced he was PULLING his support for redistricting in response. Sometimes actions do have consequences, even for Donald Trump.
US Defense Secretary Hegseth issued kill order after strike on Caribbean boat, reports say
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth responded to a report that he ordered the military to kill all passengers aboard a boat suspected of ferrying drugs in the Caribbean Sea in September. According to The Washington Post, the Sept. 2 boat strike initially left two survivors clinging to the boat. The Post alleges Adm. Mitch Bradley, head of Special Operations Command, then ordered a second strike in order to comply with Hegseth's orders and to ensure the survivors couldn't call on other traffickers to retrieve them and their cargo. One person familiar with details of the Sept. 2 incident confirmed to ABC News that there were survivors from an initial strike on the boat and that those survivors were killed in subsequent strikes.

MAGA extremist and billionaire lapdog Greg Abbott launches re-election run
Gina Hinojosa for Texas: Greg Abbott has become a national figure for his astonishing mismanagement, breathtaking corruption, and shocking cruelty. He’s the man who stripped Medicaid from two millions Texans, most of them kids. He’s the man who has spent years trying to privatize our public school systems and funneled a billion taxpayer dollars into the pockets of his donors. He’s the man who refused to use state money to feed kids during the SNAP freeze. Former school board president Gina Hinojosa is running to put an end to Abbott’s depravity once and for all. Will you chip in to help her take advantage of Abbott’s 78% (!) disapproval rating?
Trump vows to "permanently pause" migration from 'third world countries' after National Guard shooting
President Donald Trump said Thursday that he will “permanently pause” all immigration from what he called “third world countries” and demanded a program of “reverse migration” as he intensified his rhetoric after the National Guard shooting in Washington, D.C. Trump offered few details as he disparaged and vowed to remove millions of migrants in the U.S. in a lengthy social media post late on Thanksgiving that came hours after he confirmed the death of National Guard soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, in the shooting. “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen, and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. On Friday, the State Department took the first step: stopping issuance of U.S. visas for all Afghan nationals.
Northwestern agrees to pay Trump administration $75 million to restore federal funding
Northwestern University has agreed to pay $75 million to the U.S. government in a deal with the Trump administration to end a series of investigations and restore hundreds of millions of dollars in federal research funding. President Donald Trump’s administration had cut off $790 million in grants in a standoff that contributed to university layoffs and the resignation in September of Northwestern president Michael Schill. The administration argued the school had not done enough to fight antisemitism. Under the agreement announced Friday night, Northwestern will make the payment to the U.S. Treasury over the next three years. Among other commitments it also requires the university to revoke the so-called Deering Meadow agreement, which it signed in April 2024 in exchange for pro-Palestinian protesters ending their tent encampment on campus.
College freshman is deported flying home for Thanksgiving surprise, despite court order
A college freshman trying to fly from Boston to Texas to surprise her family for Thanksgiving was instead deported to Honduras in violation of a court order, according to her attorney. Any Lucia Lopez Belloza, 19, had already passed through security at Boston Logan International Airport on Nov. 20 when she was told there was an issue with her boarding pass, said attorney Todd Pomerleau. The Babson College student was then detained by immigration officials and within two days, sent to Texas and then Honduras, the country she left at age 7. “She’s absolutely heartbroken,” Pomerleau said. “Her college dream has just been shattered.”
