Dear friend,

Today marks one year since the assisted dying Bill passed its first historic vote in the House of Commons - the first time MPs have ever backed choice at the end of life.

It was a watershed moment. A moment when Parliament recognised what so many of us already knew: that dying people deserve compassion, dignity and choice at the end of life. Now the House of Lords have to make the same decision.

That milestone was only possible because supporters like you stood with us - sharing your stories, speaking up, and refusing to let this issue be ignored. Your voice helped make history. Out on Parliament Square with us that day was James, whose mum went to Switzerland, alone, to have choice and control at the end of her life. He has a powerful message for you:

Since last year, our movement has only grown stronger. Public support remains overwhelming across every constituency in the UK. Bills are progressing in Westminster, Scotland, Jersey and beyond. And dying people and their families continue to lead the conversation with courage and honesty.

The Bill is now being considered by the House of Lords, where a tiny minority of Peers are attempting to threaten its progress. Its future depends on Peers choosing to listen to the public and respect the democratic will of MPs - choosing scrutiny but not succumbing to sabotage.

You can tell them today that we’ve come too far, and dying people have waited too long for choice, for a few Peers to derail the Bill. Will you email Peers now?

Thank you for everything you’ve done to help bring compassion and choice to the forefront. We remain closer than ever to meaningful change, and your support continues to move us forward.

Best wishes,

Sadie Kempner
