This week we announced our second wave of endorsements for the Fall Election that will take place on Nov. 3. Three of those endorsed candidates will face a primary challenge on Aug. 11

Dear John,

This week we announced our second wave of endorsements for the Fall Election that will take place on Nov. 3. Three of those endorsed candidates will face a primary challenge on Aug. 11.

We’ve told you that this election is one of the most important in Wisconsin history. Why is that? Certainly, the Presidential Election is on the top of our minds, but a serious threat also resides at the state level, where Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, and their allies are dead set on stripping Gov. Tony Evers of his ability to effectively govern, in spite of several crises happening right now that require bold leadership.

The biggest threat to that leadership is the elimination of Gov. Evers’ veto power. The same people who fought tooth-and-nail to maintain Wisconsin’s gubernatorial veto powers while Scott Walker was governor, are now all-in on making sure Gov. Evers doesn’t have the same powers.

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has committed millions of dollars to just a few races in the legislature. Those seats are being specifically targeted so that Vos and his allies can continue their strategy of taking away executive powers – powers that when Scott Walker was governor, they tried to expand time and time again.

We’re proud to announce these endorsements. An endorsed candidate is vetted by the Wisconsin Conservation Voters Board through a questionnaire, a personal interview, and independent research on the candidate and campaign.

Our endorsed candidates share our values: clean water, clean air, accessible public lands, an equitable, safe democracy, and the pursuit of clean energy. We’re proud to endorse this most recent slate of candidates who will fight for a brighter, cleaner, more equitable Wisconsin.

Some of the candidates will face a primary challenge on Aug. 11 ahead of the General and Presidential Election on Nov. 3. Those candidates facing a primary are denoted by an asterisk below.
