Team, I want to talk to you about what’s happening in Indiana. When the Trump administration began its pressure campaign to redraw the state’s congressional map, it was met with broad opposition from voters. But like clockwork, Indiana Republicans caved to Donald Trump and special interests — moving forward with plans to consider mid-decade gerrymandering. The fair maps movement got to work immediately — educating voters about what was at stake, mobilizing volunteers to speak out, and training communities on how to contact their representatives. Eventually, Republicans hit a roadblock. Amid growing resistance from their constituents, they also didn’t have the votes to get Trump’s mid-decade push across the finish line. I wish I could say that’s where their attacks ended, folks. On Tuesday, Governor Braun celebrated the announcement of the Indiana House and Senate reconvening in early December to “discuss redistricting.” The work we’re doing together to protect democracy just got so much more important. Make a donation today to help keep up our critical efforts to prevent a power grab in Indiana and beyond.
This cash infusion of six figures in Indiana means we have to be able to push back in force. The NDRC will continue reminding Indiana lawmakers that voters overwhelmingly oppose map manipulation. That redrawing district lines would be the complete opposite of what their constituents are demanding. And that zero Hoosiers spoke in favor of a mid-decade redraw at a Republican-hosted listening session. But Republicans have made it clear that Indiana is one of several states where they plan to expand this national redistricting crisis. So we’ll have our work cut out for us in fighting back. I’m counting on your support to help us meet this moment with the urgency it requires. Can you please make a contribution to ensure we can keep making a difference in Indiana and wherever fair representation is under attack? Thank you, Claire Low,
