Happy Thanksgiving
I hope you and your family had the chance to come together, enjoy a meal, and reflect on our many blessings this Thanksgiving. Yesterday was also a great day to be a Packers fan!
I want to hear from you:
Lowering Energy Costs
One important part of making life more affordable and lowering the cost of groceries and everyday goods is addressing high energy prices.
Lower energy prices can help decrease the cost of groceries. Studies have shown that for every 10% increase in oil prices, grocery prices increase by 5%. Unleashing American energy will make life more affordable for working families and seniors.
Recently passed legislation helped unleash American energy to lower prices by:
- Mandating at least 36 new oil and gas leases
- Repealing a ban on new oil and natural gas projects
- Extending the clean fuel production credit
- Removing rate fees on oil, gas, and methane projects that increased production costs
- Accelerated permitting for major water and hydropower projects to decrease construction time and increase energy supply
Recent news highlighted that gas prices have reached a four-year low, averaging just $2.73 a gallon in Wisconsin. This is important progress, but there is still more work to do.
Honoring Health Care Heroes
Health care professionals serve on the front lines.
Each year, I recognize our health care professionals with our Health Care Worker of the Year Award. This award recognizes one health care professional who goes above and beyond. Nominees are evaluated by health care professionals across Southeast Wisconsin based on the following criteria:
- Service: Displays exemplary service and performance in their profession
- Dedication: Goes above and beyond the call of duty in performing their responsibilities
- Selflessness: Displays self-sacrifice and selflessness in caring for others
This week, I recognized Sam Porter, an Emergency Department Nurse from Burlington, as our 2025 Health Care Worker of the Year. Thank you Sam, and all our health care professionals, for all you do for our community!
As always, feel free to contact my office if you have any questions, want to share an opinion, or are having trouble with a federal agency.
On Wisconsin,
Bryan Steil Member of Congress
