Tell Congress to Prioritize Safety Over Profits
U.S. Representatives Marcia Fudge, Rosa DeLauro, and Bennie Thompson have introduced a bill that aims to protect animals, workers, and public health from the dangers of high-speed slaughter.

Standard line speeds are already dangerously fast, resulting in injuries to both animals and workers. High-speed slaughter, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, makes things even more deadly. More than 32,000 workers have tested positive for COVID-19. Four inspectors and more than 120 workers have died as a result. That doesn't even touch on the horrors animals endure due to these high speeds ([link removed][UNIQID]) .

The Safe Line Speeds in COVID-19 Act ([link removed][UNIQID](Fudge).pdf) HR 7521 ([link removed][UNIQID](Fudge).pdf) is gaining support, but it needs your help to pass. On factory farms, including many "free range" and "cage-free" operations, chickens often have the tips of their sensitive beaks cut off in an attempt to reduce pecking from crowded, stressed birds. The chickens that survive this disfigurement spend their lives in acute or even chronic pain.

Remembering Regan Russell
The animal rights community lost an amazing advocate when longtime social justice activist, Regan Russell, was struck and killed by a pig transport truck in front of Fearmans slaughterhouse on Friday, June 19, 2020. Aside from her animal rights work, she also fought for racial justice and LGBTQ equality.
