Enough is Enough.

We are writing to set the record straight on a letter that you might have recently received from some Republicans in our state.

We feel compelled to express our disappointment with the irresponsible and false allegations made in this letter that was designed to personally attack Bill Waller in his run for Governor.

While we all should have the freedom to choose our candidate and maintain the right to disagree, for any Republican in our state to claim that Bill is “carrying the water for the Democrats” simply because he is addressing important issues—like infrastructure, education and health care—is reckless and wrong.

Bill Waller and many other Mississippi Republican elected officials, candidates and activists are promoting identical positions on these pressing issues that are completely consistent with the conservative principles of Ronald Reagan, Mike Pence and President Donald Trump.

In the recent history of the Mississippi Republican Party, it has been a key focus to support conservative judges because of the incredible importance and need to clean up our state’s judicial system. Thankfully, because of conservative judges like Bill Waller and others, our judicial system is far better than it was in the past.

Many Republican leaders fought diligently for the right of the Party to have the ability to endorse judicial candidates, and it’s important to note that the Party endorsed Bill Waller when he was running for Supreme Court—because of his outstanding, conservative record.

We are deeply concerned about the competitive nature of the upcoming general election and the strong gubernatorial candidate the Democrats have nominated.

That’s one of the many reasons we have been supporting Bill Waller for Governor since the beginning of his campaign, and we continue to believe Bill Waller is the conservative Republican with the best opportunity to win in November.

I hope you will please consider joining us, and other Republicans including Billy Mounger and Leland Speed, in putting an end to the reckless personal attacks against Bill Waller, and you can do that by voting this Tuesday for a good man of integrity and a proven conservative record—Bill Waller for Governor.

Sincerely,

Jim Herring, Chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party, 2001-2008

Billy Powell, Chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party, 1993-1996

Clarke Reed, Chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party, 1966-1976

Mike Retzer, Chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party, 1978-1982, 1996-2001
