Friend-
We hope you all are doing ok in what continues (months later) to be a tough year for many communities.
We continue to do everything we can to meet the needs of survivors, victims, and leaders on the frontlines of the fight to end gun violence. Instead of just telling communities what they need, we asked and heard from thousands of community members across the country. We asked how and what we can collectively do to help the intersecting pandemics of COVID-19, gun violence, and systemic racism.
You told us you wanted to demand change from policymakers to stop funding racist policing. You told us you wanted a policy roadmap to take action on all levels of government. You told us you wanted to learn from the people closest to the pain of everyday gun violence.
And we listened.
Today, we are launching the first volume in a series of “Policymaker Playbooks”. An up-to-date brief on what we are demanding from policy makers, how we can work together, and how we can stop the bleeding.

The playbook calls attention to the recent alarming uptick in gun violence [[link removed][UNIQID]&u=1f7e727bf08b2089b6e7cf9e8&id=f35a8dcfef] across the country, and underscores that in the wake of a national reckoning over the issue of police conduct and systemic racism, communities should focus on people-led methods to reduce violence, rather than further over-policing Black, Indigenous, and People of Color neighborhoods.
If you want to hear more about the playbook and how you can take action, join us on our next monthly call on July 28th at 4pm EST, which will feature guest speakers Tracy Corder from the Action Center on Race and the Economy, work from our partners in Ohio on Stand Your Ground, March for our Lives, and many others. Register here [[link removed]] .
We can’t do this without you- we hope you will join us as we continue to build power with and for communities of color to end gun violence.
In solidarity,
The CJAF Team
