Congress must act to hold the president accountable

John,

Did Donald Trump interfere in an IRS audit of his tax returns? If so, that could be a federal crime.

Each year, the IRS is required to conduct an official audit of the U.S. President’s finances. But, according to newly filed court documents by Rep. Richard Neal, Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, a government whistle blower has provided “credible allegations” of “inappropriate efforts to influence” this audit process.[1]

What is Donald Trump hiding? And did he break the law to keep the American people in the dark about his shady business dealings?

The only way we’ll find out is by obtaining Trump’s tax returns! That’s why we’re calling on Congress to pass the Presidential Tax Transparency Act (H.R. 273) to require Trump and all major party candidates for president to release the last 10 years of their tax returns.

Together, it’s up to us to demand transparency and accountability from this administration.

Trump is already suing House Democrats and the State of New York in an attempt to block Congress’ access to Trump’s tax returns, which are needed to fulfill its oversight responsibilities of the executive branch.

We still don’t know how Donald Trump and his family are benefiting from the Trump-GOP Tax Scam or other policies implemented by his administration.

We still don’t know how Trump and his family may have abused our tax laws to avoid paying their fair share of taxes over many years.

And we still don’t know the full extent of the financial relationship between Trump and foreign powers such as Russia and Saudi Arabia.

There is a real danger Trump and his legal minions may be able to drag this fight out in court past the 2020 election.[2] That’s why we need Congress to pass the Presidential Tax Transparency Act (H.R. 273) to release Trump’s tax returns prior to Election Day.

Donate today to hold this president accountable to the American people.

Thank you,
