Happy Thanksgiving! It has been a year of changes for all of us. For the country, itβs been about a year of Trump being elected and spreading chaos and fear for so many. Β For me, this was the year I decided to step up and be the leader that our district needs during this chaotic time.
And I have to tell you, while itβs been hard, itβs also been one of the most rewarding things Iβve ever done. Getting to travel to so many beautiful places and meet so many amazing people has made this experience something so unforgettable.
You, and everyone else I get to talk to (both virtually and in person!), are the reason Iβm doing this, and Iβm so thankful for all the love and support youβve shown me over this year.
I also want to take a moment here to recognize that while I love the food and traditions of Thanksgiving, I also know that this holiday can bring pain for our indigenous neighbors. For some indigenous communities, Thanksgiving is a reminder of the loss of land and life since the colonization by Europeans. I also know that some Indigenous families use Thanksgiving to celebrate their family and traditions too.
However you recognize this holiday, I wish you the best and I hope you surround yourself with loved ones.
