Dear Friend,
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re able to celebrate this day of gratitude with your loved ones. As we bring this year to a close, I want to recognize YOU and all of your fellow Population Connection supporters. You have given your time, resources, and attention to our work throughout this year—we appreciate you!
Stabilizing global population is a long-term effort, and I am grateful for your steadfast support. Your shared strength—there are 40,000 members like you!—gives me hope for our future.
So, from all of us at Population Connection, thank you!
Because of you, this year, we:
* Celebrated 50 years of Population Education! In 2025 alone, we trained more than 11,000 K-12 educators throughout the U.S. and Canada. These educators will go on to use PopEd’s materials and resources in their own K-12 classrooms nationwide.
* Fielded 3,250 submissions—from 67 countries—to our annual World of 8 Billion student video contest. Middle and high school students from around the globe sent in original short videos that tackled the topics of child well-being, rainforest ecosystems, and sanitation as they relate to overpopulation.
* Brought together nearly 1,000 Population Connection members and supporters for eighteen virtual events throughout the year. These included presentations from our Global Partners, meetings of the Page Turners Book Club, program updates with Population Connection staff, and more.
* Provided 85 presentations to college and university classrooms in 25 states on topics relating to population, health, and the environment (PHE). These presentations make the links between global population growth and critical issues facing us all, such as climate change.
* Expanded our participation with the United Nations by achieving special consultative status with the UN through the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This status, reserved for non-governmental organizations whose work “has direct relevance to the aims and purposes of the United Nations,” allows us to attend UN conferences, deliver written and oral statements, and comment on drafts of important publications.
* Supported 19 Global Partners . These small and mid-sized community organizations around the world are working to expand access to family planning options and reproductive health care; to remove barriers to girls' education; and to conserve local natural resources through an integrated “population, health, environment” (PHE) approach in their local communities.
You made all of this—and so much more!—possible. I hope you have a joyous holiday season. We’re so grateful to you, on this day and every day.
Warm regards,
