PERKINS: Thanksgiving as a Lifestyle
by Tony Perkins
As you finish off that pumpkin pie, let me give you something else to chew on. What if Thanksgiving were not a day on the calendar, but a way of life? Now, I'm not talking about the elevated calorie count, but an attitude of gratitude. A mindset that has the power to transform not just a day, but our entire lives.

GOP Debating Obamacare Alternative as White House Teases Response to ACA Extension
by S.A. McCarthy
| President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans are working on devising an alternative to expiring health care subsidies favored by Democrats, in an effort not to fund abortion and gender transition procedures. Existing Affordable Care Act subsidies are slated to expire at the end of the year. | National Myth and the Lesson of Thanksgiving |
by S.A. McCarthy
Historian Michael Gannon contended that the first Thanksgiving occurred over 50 years prior, in what is today St. Augustine, Florida, while others argue that the first Thanksgiving took place in Texas or in other parts of New England, including modern-day Boston. Some Catholics like to point to the first Mass celebrated by Christopher Columbus immediately upon arriving in the West Indies as the first Thanksgiving. (The word "Eucharist," an integral part of the Catholic Mass, is literally translated as "thanksgiving.") Setting arguments of historical primacy aside, each of the Thanksgiving feasts shares a common trait: thanking God.

Nearly 50 Nigerian Catholic School Children Escape Extremists; Hundreds Remain Missing
by Sarah Holliday
So many Christians around the world are living in "constant combat," persecuted daily for their faith in Christ. One prominent example are the Christians in Nigeria who live each day wondering if they will be the next victims of attacks from terrorist groups like Boko Haram. Churches and villages are commonly burned to the ground, over 7,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria this year alone, and there's been a spike in the number of attacks that result in dozens to hundreds of people (often children) being taken captive.

3 Opposites of Thanksgiving
by Joshua Arnold
Children are taught that many words have an opposite: light and dark, hungry and satisfied, raw and cooked. But did you know, according to the Bible, "thanksgiving" has more than one opposite? That's because thanksgiving is a multilayered concept. It involves a verbal response of gratitude for God's work in the world, a response which not only glorifies him but also changes us.
