“Have Peace for Thanksgiving”

Don’t let the culture steal Thanksgiving!
It’s to be a peaceful affair,
A time to celebrate good living,
And set aside conflict and cares.

Thanksgiving recalls our history,
Courageous people in hard times.
So, don’t be contradictory,
Or bring up some unpunished crimes.

The Pilgrims enjoyed a harvest,
The best since their arrival.
Through times that were the darkest,
They triumphed with their Bibles.

Their families had been attacked,
By the harsh winter in this land.
But there was no turning back,
Their ship was anchored in the sand.

The Natives were very helpful,
To teach them necessary skills.
They were extremely thankful,
Yet it was primitive, with no frills.

They couldn’t depend on digging clams,
And they couldn’t just live on cod.
There were no government programs,
But they had the Grace of God.

So, make new joyful moments,
Renew your warm family ties.
Set aside some disappointments,
And forgive people’s past lies.

Let this day have no dissension,
Forget old quarrels from the past.
Grow together to strengthen,
Bonds of faith and peace that will last.
