Washington, D.C. | www.mpac.org | November 26, 2025 — The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) unequivocally condemns the horrific shooting that took place this afternoon in Washington D.C., leaving two National Guardsmen in critical condition. Violence of this kind is not only unconscionable but a threat to our democracy. We are keeping the victims and their families in our prayers during this difficult time.
This brazen act of violence against those who serve and protect our nation is a profound violation of every moral and religious principle we uphold. The sanctity of human life is fundamental to our faith as American Muslims.
The National Guard, comprised of dedicated citizen-soldiers, represents the very best of American service. An attack on them is an attack on the foundational principles of safety and order that allow all Americans, including the American Muslim community, to thrive.
As the investigation unfolds, we urge the public and government officials to refrain from speculation and avoid drawing broad conclusions based solely on the suspect’s nationality.
MPAC calls on:
Federal Investigators to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation and bring all perpetrators to swift justice.
Community and Faith Leaders to proactively promote messages of peace and shared citizenship.
The Media to exercise responsible reporting, ensuring that the actions of a single individual are not conflated with the peaceful faith of millions of loyal American citizens.
While law enforcement is still working to determine a motive, let us be clear: the actions of any single criminal, extremist, or individual do not represent the American Muslim community, which is united in its opposition to violence and its commitment to upholding the U.S. Constitution.
