Hey friend — it's Deb. When I think about Thanksgiving, I think about the parents who are putting on a brave face for their children while they try to make ends meet. I know that feeling well.

About fifteen years ago, during this same week, my child and I were struggling. The only food in our cupboard was pinto beans and flour, and I wanted to give them a real holiday meal. I applied for emergency food stamps, but I was denied. I broke down in tears because I didn’t know how to tell my child: it’s expensive to be poor.

|
That night, we ate what we had, and I tried to keep their spirits up. This year, many families are doing the same thing, trying to stay strong for their kids even when things feel uncertain.

Friend, these moments shaped who I am. It’s why I strongly believe leaders should make people’s lives easier, not harder. We all want good roads, safe communities, strong education, access to parks and affordable, healthy food to eat.

I want every family in New Mexico to have a fair shot. That's why I'm running to be the next governor of this beautiful state that I'm proud to call home.

I know the fights we face today are bigger than ever – and I’m prepared to get to work immediately. On day one, I will begin tackling the rising affordability crisis and healthcare costs, so we can build a state where every single person is safe, healthy, and can thrive. But I can’t do this work alone.

Our grassroots-powered campaign was built for the people, by the people – and that includes you, friend. So please, can I count on you to chip in $5, $10, or whatever you can comfortably spare, to help fuel our grassroots movement, win in New Mexico, and build a better future for working families?
