Newsom's at the center of itHi John,

I've just published a new blog post:

Far From Over [link removed]

The culture of corruption in Sacramento is being exposed, and Newsom is at the center of it. Following the arrest of his Chief of Staff for 23 felonies, the NY Times reports [link removed] more people in his orbit are getting “shivers” as letters arrive from the FBI. This scandal is far from over.

The redistricting wars, sadly, also appear far from over. When Congress returns next week, I am seeking an immediate vote on HR 4889, my bill to stop new maps from taking effect in California and other states. I am also working on legislation [link removed] to end gerrymandering for good.

And as Chair of the House K-12 Education Subcommittee, we've opened an investigation [link removed] into Berkeley Unified and its “eruption of antisemitism." This follows my interrogation [link removed] of the Berkeley superintendent over the use of “liberated ethnic studies” course materials.

Meanwhile, I’ve had to parry several Newsom attempts to reinvent reality:

* After Newsom complained that a new federal homelessness initiative won’t be “effective,” I pointed out [link removed] he spent $24 billion on homelessness and lost track of the money as California's homeless population exploded.

* After Newsom suggested the California Exodus is a myth, I pointed to [link removed] a new report showing California lost a taxpayer to other states every 1 minute and 44 seconds over a two-year period.

* After Newsom claimed to care about “affordability,” I pointed out [link removed] our residents pay 20 cents per gallon more for gas than even Hawaiians, and no other state is even close.

* After the Legislative Analyst announced California has an $18 billion deficit, I gave a Floor Speech [link removed] pointing out the budget grew by $124 billion in 5 years under Newsom – yet we now lead the nation in poverty, unemployment, and homelessness.

Finally, my bill [link removed] to spare millions of Californians – and in particular Independent Contractors who’ve been relentlessly targeted by Newsom – from a doubling in healthcare premiums has gotten both bipartisan support an “a nod [link removed]” from the President.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
