OUR MISSION IN ACTION — GOVERNANCE OPPORTUNITY AND YOUTH ENGAGEMENT

BAFEF initiatives ClerkStart and the Alaska Governance Project work together to strengthen local governance across 200+ communities. ClerkStart spotlights clerks and tribal administrators to inspire the next generation, documenting their essential roles in elections, records, and governance. The Alaska Governance Project provides practical tools such as templates, budgeting, procurement, and election resources, to help tribal and municipal governments operate more transparently and effectively.

We are also creating opportunities and engaging youth to keep Alaskans connected to their communities. the Alaska Native Workforce Development Collaborative delivers hands-on training, apprenticeships, and workforce pathways through rural workshops and programs in Fairbanks, aligning with federal investments to build a skilled, local workforce. Youth engagement programs foster civic leadership and strengthen community ties, ensuring young Alaskans envision a future here at home.

TRUST THROUGH TRANSPARENCY: MAPPING ALASKA'S INVESTMENTS

Our interactive GIS platform at BuildAlaska.org tracks nearly $10 billion in federal investments across Alaska. This tool, kept accurate and accessible by your support, helps policymakers, tribal and municipal leaders, and residents understand how infrastructure dollars flow through the state. Paired with the Know Your Investment, Voice Your Future story map series, we translate data into meaningful narratives—showing how investments affect schools, transportation, broadband, safety, and opportunity in every region. The Economic Forum Series, in partnership with Commonwealth North and ISER, brings together economists, policymakers, and community members to discuss key issues grounded in real data and lived experience.
